About Leeds and Skyrack Lions

Leeds and Skyrack Lions is a group of active men and women who live in the community and who wish to give something back by supporting local people and organisations. We are members of Lions Clubs International – the world’s largest voluntary service organisation.

Leeds & Skyrack Lions Club is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). We are registered with the Charity Commission and our Charity Number is 1181586.

Everywhere we work we aim to make friends. With children who need teaching aids, with seniors who need transportation and with people we may never meet.

The activities of the club include fundraising, providing service to others, providing financial assistance to deserving people, clubs and causes mainly in and around our area.

On the international scene, we run exchange holidays for young disabled adults with our daughter clubs (Bad Sooden-Allendorf and Eschwege) in Germany.

We’re helping to prevent blindness: and bringing clean water to a remote area.

In December each year we collect donations to help  provide food and support at Christmas. initially in the 1950s we collected and provided coal so homes were warm.  With the  North Leeds Beavers and Cubs help we  make up food parcels for distribution to the elderly in the area. In a normal year we distribute over 200 food parcels, support the homeless and disadvantaged of all ages.

We also organise or assist at events. which enable some activity for the elderly, e.g. a tea party with the Lord Mayor of Leeds followed by entertainment with a local choir.

We meet on the second Thursday of the month at the New Headingley Club, 56 St Michaels Road, Leeds LS6 3BG at 7.30pm.
